St Clare Preschool is a Catholic early childhood education program that fosters joy, curiosity, confidence and spiritual connection in a welcoming community.
Here at St. Clare we strive to support your child in all areas of learning and growth; cognitive, emotional, and social. We hope to develop in your child an active curiosity about the world, and an enthusiasm for learning, which stimulates exploratory behavior and creativity.
We encourage parent involvement in many ways here at St. Clare. First, we would like to extend an open invitation to visit us anytime in the classroom. The children always enjoy hearing a story, sharing a special event in their life with you, eating lunch with you, and seeing that you also enjoy spending time at St. Clare.
Family events we have include our Winter Program in January, and special events centered on The Week of The Young Child in mid-April.
It is our preference that your child does not bring a backpack to school, as storage will be an issue. If your child is insistent on bringing one, it needs to fit INSIDE their tub as the hooks will be needed for coats.
Your child's extra set of clothes need to be clearly labeled and fit inside their tub.
TOYS FROM HOME
Our class policy is that your child may bring a soft, cuddly item for rest, and books or tapes to share with the class. Toys from home are hard to share with the whole class and are broken or misplaced at times. Thank you for assisting us with this policy.
SEE SAW BOOK CLUB
The school participates in the See Saw Book Club. About once a month, you will receive a flyer in your parent file. Please take a minute to look it over, as this is a great, inexpensive way to build and expand your child's library. The school also receives Bonus Points to help us provide great books for the classrooms.
We offer a fluoride program through the Multnomah County Health Department. If you would like your child to participate, please stop in the office and pick up a form.
At the end of each week, we will place the child's labeled pillowcase with their nap items in the hall so that you make take them home for laundering.
12:30 DROP OFF AND PICK UP TIME
Because of the increase in our class size, we need to be firm on our 12:30 drop off and pick up time for children attending half-day sessions. As with our 6:00 PM closing time, if you are later than 12:30 to pick up from morning session, or earlier than 12:30 to drop off for afternoon session, you will be charged a dollar a minute for all time before or after 12:30. Please-be on time!
